What did TTC PE department achieve in the academic year of 2014/2015 

Success at Extracurricular sports at TTC: 

  • Year 7 Rugby - District winners - undefeated all year
  • Years 8 and 9 Rugby - District runners up
  • Years 7, 8 and 9 Rugby - Coastal league winners
  • Years 7 and 8 Football - Coastal league winners
  • Years 7 and 8 Boys Football - District Football winners
  • Year 7 Girls Football - Coastal league winners - undefeated all year
  • Year 7 Girls Football - District winners - undefeated all year
  • Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 Coastal Athletic winners
  • Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 District Athletics runners up
  • Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 Coastal Swimming winners
  • Year 7 District Rounders winners
  • National Horse riding competitions and winners
  • Year 7 Rounders - League winners - undefeated all year
  • U13 Essex Cricket semi-finalists
  • U15 National Volleyball quarter-finalists
  • U18 Girls Volleyball semi-finalists

 

Events last year in the PE department: 

  • 1st ever Sports Presentation evening - sponsored by local clubs
  • Introduction of the TTC Mascots (Dexter and Ellie) - they go to all sporting events
  • Trip to watch England Netball team play at Copper Box
  • Trip to Twickenham for Rugby finals
  • Dance East trip and performing at Colchester United and Chelmsford Civic Theatre
  • Trip to Olympic park for cycling
  • Trip to Lee Valley Hockey to watch England ladies and a coaching session
  • Race for Life - £6552 pounds raised for cancer research with 950 students either walking or running 5K on the school field and in the local community
  • Sports Day for all - 750 students took part
  • Rounders Day for Year 10 - All day off timetable and playing competitive tutor group rounders - 332 students
  • Trip to watch England International Football
  • Attendance is fantastic at the various extra curricular clubs
  • Running before-school Volleyball Club
  • Running lunch-time clubs
  • Introduction of Cheerleading Club with outside club and coach
  • Entering NSEA National Horse-riding competitions
  • Stubbers and Mersea activity centre
  • Watching National Volleyball finals in Kettering 
  • Regular inter-form competitions
  • Working with Chelsea Football Foundation to encourage our less able
  • Working with Netball local community satellite Netball club
  • Many students’ trialling in Essex /Suffolk Rugby Trials U14 and U16
  • County Netball trials
  • Working with Colchester United - promoting girls football.
  • Links with Frinton Tennis 
  • We have had an excellent Dance Club this year and links with East Dance, where a student in Year 8 was successful in getting a scholarship. Participation has increased since it started and we held a Dance Show which was extremely successful.
