More success for Josef!

Year 9 student, Josef Sullivan, continues to progress to the top of the Judo ladder, this time travelling to Sutton for the North West Open ranking event.  Josef's first opponent was quickly dealt with using a left handed maki komi (winding throw) for maximum points and the win in just 5 seconds. In the quarter finals, he showed his versatility to switch to right handed to win with the same throw in 26 seconds.

The semi final contest was to be a far stronger challenge from the current British Champion and the victor in their previous two competitions. It was again a battle, with the TTC student starting the more dominant but neither player getting onto the scoreboard. After just over a minute the Gateshead player launched a fantastic combination of techniques, but this was where Josef showed that he is a natural and turned the attack to his advantage countering with O Uchi Gari (major inner reaping throw) to put his opponent flat on his back for Ippon and a place in the final.

The final saw a return to a totally dominant Sullivan, who wasted no time taking his opponent to the ground and pinning them for the Gold!
