From the Head of Thorpe Campus

Time is passing quickly – it seems that this half term is evaporating like the dew from summer grass. Given the cold, grey weather we have experienced, it is probably more appropriate to talk of melting frost!

At Thorpe Campus, we have recently welcomed parents into College for our Year 7 Parents Consultation Evening. The evening was very well attended and the feedback we received was extremely positive. Positive that is for those of you who managed to make appointments with your child’s teachers! Our online booking system is very efficient, however as I have also experienced, you have to be quick off the mark to get appointments in the electronic bun fight that ensues when the appointments go live. We are presently reviewing our system for inviting parents into College to meet with teachers and will be seeking your views on a range of options. In the meantime, if you would like to receive an update on your child’s progress, or would like to speak to their teacher, please call and we will endeavour to report back to you.

This week, our Year 8s have been attending Learning Conferences with a focus on preparing for exams. All of our Year 8 students will sit end of year exams in all of their subjects during the week commencing 5 June. It is vital that they get into the habit of effectively preparing for exams so please encourage them to revise at home.

Our Year 9s have just completed their end of year exams and are now working towards their graduation in July, when they will move onto Frinton Campus. Their conduct during the exams was exemplary and they should be commended.

At Frinton Campus there is only one thing on everyone’s minds. Without mentioning the ‘E’ word again – we wish all of our students the very best of luck.
