Last week I had the honour of attending the annual Jack Petchey achievement awards at the Columbine Centre. Once again the evening was a wonderful celebration. Each of our students were an absolute credit to the College. Listening to their achievements was truly inspirational. A real highlight was watching all our students walk on stage and collect their awards, each one beaming with pride and delight. To say I felt proud was an understatement.

It was a great evening which captured the feeling of community with parents, friends, coaches, youth group leaders and schools all joined together to watch the celebrations. As I made my way home that evening I thought about our winners and their achievements, some I had heard about others took me by great surprise. It was a sharp reminder that all our students at TTC are capable of great things and in fact many students deserve this recognition.

The Jack Petchey award scheme celebrates students that have gone the extra mile or have achieved; either personally or at College. If you know of any young person at TTC who is an inspiration to others, has overcome difficulties, is a rising star in sports, or they have helped the community in anyway, please contact myself at Frinton Campus or Mr Woodcock at Thorpe Campus.

The recent Jack Petchey award winners are:
  • Fabien Holmes
  • Thomas Woods
  • Patrick Milnes
  • Ellie Challis
  • Sam Hume
  • Alexandra Grange
  • Chelsea Coggins
  • Natalie Winter
  • Nick Cottee
  • Oliver Dye
  • Kieran Ford O’Brien
My thanks and appreciation also must extend to Bryony Diss and Kameron Meeson-Pederson who both sang and played guitar that evening. The performances alone were amazing.
