The Sixth Form INCH club (Inspire and Challenge), for those students who aspire to Oxbridge and the other top universities in the world, entertained four undergraduates from Emmanuel College, Cambridge last week. The students gave an overview of university life in general and went on to discuss life at Cambridge, the application process and what to expect at interview. Our students who form part of INCH are serious contenders and we wish them every success in their future applications.
Dance Show for Sport Relief - This was a wonderful event last Friday, at the Columbine Centre in Walton, that showcased the significant talent and enthusiasm of our students. GCSE and A Level students performed their examination pieces and provided a wonderful role model for our younger students, who have just started to enjoy dance performance. In addition to that they raised a significant amount of money for Sport Relief. The atmosphere the whole week was fantastic with students in PE lessons and after school throwing themselves in to sporting activities to raise money for Sport Relief. It was great fun watching students and staff having fun for a good cause.
As a scientist myself, I was very pleased to have the opportunity to drop into lessons in Science for the 'Demo Week'. There was dissection, there were explosions and there was fire! Science is brilliant but I think I am a bit biased!
We spend a lot of time at Thorpe Campus encouraging the girls that they do not need to wear make-up, so how pleased were we when some Year 9 girls and Year 11 girls came to school with completely clean faces, not a shred of mascara in sight and all for charity. I have to say that they looked great! Well done to everybody at TTC who do so much for charity.
