I hope you all enjoyed the Easter weekend! In the week prior to the Easter holidays I went to Chelmsford Crown Court to listen to the Judge's summing up in the trial for the murder of Jay Whiston. During the summing up, the judge painstakingly goes through all the witness statements and evidence given, to remind the jury what has been said. He guides them on the key points they need to consider. It was very distressing to hear the details of Jay's death and I can only imagine how his family have felt, listening to those details being repeated over and over again throughout the 12 week trial. We are all so pleased that justice has been done for Jay and that his murderer and all those who tried to prevent justice being done will get the punishment they so richly deserve. I feel very proud of those students past and present who did their duty, took the stand and told the truth. I hope that Jay's family and his many friends can now start to gradually rebuild their lives, although I doubt whether they will ever heal completely.
