This has been an exciting week!

On Monday we were contacted by the office of the Rt Hon Nicky Morgan, Secretary of State for Education, to ask if she could visit us, accompanied by the parliamentary candidate for the Conservative Party, Giles Watling.  We were delighted to have the opportunity to talk to the new Secretary of State and enable our students to engage in discussion about educational policy and local political issues surrounding the imminent by-election.

Our guests arrived at Thorpe campus and were greeted by some of our immaculate Senior Students.  Ms Morgan and Mr Watling were then interviewed by our own BBC Young Reporters.  We took them on a quick tour of the College, visiting English, introducing them to our chickens (they were particularly taken with Margaret Hatcher & Mary Poopins!) and then in to a History lesson with Mr Silverton.  On our way back we showed them the photos of the Shell Challenge Car and Team Landermere.  Then it was back for more interviews.

The full iVoice cabinet explained their role and once again asked searching topical questions.  Finally, they were introduced to three of our trainee teachers who spoke about their passion for their subject and their desire to teach.

It was an excellent afternoon and I felt very proud of our students and staff.
