A big welcome back to all our staff and students.  I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year.

Parents choose the secondary education for their child and we assume that parents will have looked carefully at our values and expectations for uniform and behaviour before sending their child to us.  It should come as no surprise when we challenge students if they do not meet those expectations.  Most parents are extremely supportive and recognise the benefits to their children of attending a school where standards are high.  Inexplicably, we are spending time with some parents who do not wish to support these expectations.  Please can I ask all parents to support us on upholding the rules and regulations of our College.  In particular, the extremely short skirts that some girls arrive to College in cause concern, this presents a potential child protection issue.  We want to protect our young people and sometimes that means that we will not be popular with them!

I had the pleasure of meeting with Josef Sullivan to congratulate him on being included in the 2014 British Judo Squad as a cadet (14-17yrs.)  Being at the younger end of the age band means that this is a great achievement as they have been cutting the squad and looking to only keep the most dedicated performers from 2013.  It was also a pleasure to meet up with ex-student Jake Turton who is working very hard as an apprentice at the Savoy Hotel.  Well done Jake!
