While our students were having a lovely lie in on Monday, teaching staff, teaching assistants and SEND specialists from Tendring Technology College, Rolph School, Hamford, Engaines and St Andrews, gathered together to share their expertise and collaborate together in our relentless pursuit to be the best teachers for our students.
It was a real privilege to start off the day as the key note speaker and a bit daunting!! As professionals it is important that we constantly hone our skills, look at educational research and use it to help our students be the best that they can be.
The Year 11 students will be mulling over their trial exam results and for most of them, they will be coming to terms with the realisation that there is still a lot to do if they are going to realise their ambitions. The key lesson for them is that learning their work for the exam is down to them. No matter how good their teachers are, students MUST do additional work at home. They must practice, practice, practice. It is the work ethic of students that makes the difference and their desire to achieve their best.
I would ask all parents to emphasise to students of all ages that they should be going over the work they have done at school at home. Homework should be done every night and every weekend, whether it has been set by a teacher or not!
