Congratulations to our superb Year 9 students who produced a report on the GCSE Options process for the BBC School Report feature.  Their presentation was professional and relevant, providing an insight into the students perception of making such an important decision at such a young age.

I am naturally an optimist and when the NUT announced a National Strike I was hopeful that we would be able to keep the College open.  This we were able to do, but despite putting out this information through Parentmail, telling every Tutor Group and having a large rolling banner across our website, some parents kept their children at home and this resulted in a 4% drop in our attendance that day.  This is very disappointing.  Schools come in for a lot of criticism when they close for legitimate reasons, so when we do everything we can to stay open I expect parents to send their children to school.

On a positive note, I had the opportunity to teach all day.  This was a rare treat for me and I enjoyed every  minute of it.  Getting back in to a laboratory to teach   Chemistry and Science was great fun.  I hope the students enjoyed it as much as I did!
