Uniform Consultation

For parents and students in Years 7 and 8 and for parents of students in Year 6 who have applied for a place at TTC in September 2017

Thank you for visiting this page and taking the time to consider our proposed changes to the uniform policy. We have set out below some images of what the new uniform will look like together with details of when the changes will be introduced and how much it will cost. Once you have reviewed the information, we welcome your feedback, including your preferred tie option, via the following on-line form:

What are the main changes?

SkirtGrey, black, white and red tartan, formal, knee length skirt – available from the College supplier
Trousers (girls and boys)Plain charcoal grey ankle length tailored trousers. No skin tight trousers, jeans or leggings.
Pinafore DressThis option will no longer be available.
Socks/Tights Plain black or white socks, neutral or black tights.
College TieAppropriate year group colour. ‘Clip on’ tie for all years. College ties can be bought from the College.

There will be no other changes to the policy i.e. students will still wear plain black blazers with the College logo. All PE Kit will also remain unchanged.

What will the new uniform cost?
The cost of the new tartan skirt will be £19.50. This is an increase from the present cost of purchasing a skirt from our uniform supplier, as set out below.

 Anglia Sports and Uniform Price
Black stitch down pleat black skirt£16.75 to £21.50
Black pencil skirt£14.50 to £19.00

The cost of all other items of uniform will remain unchanged and will only increase in line with general price rises. We believe that the quality of the skirts supplied will be such that they will last longer than those purchased from supermarkets and will provide a saving in the longer term.

This is in line with or cheaper than other secondary schools in the area. Please see the following link.

When will it be introduced?
The new uniform will be phased in over two years.
From September 2017:
  • All new Year 7s joining TTC will wear the new uniform.
  • Our present Year groups will continue to wear the existing uniform.

From September 2018:
  • Our present Year 7s and 8s (who will then be in Years 9 and 10) will move to wearing the new uniform.
  • Our present Year 9s (who will be in Year 11) will continue to wear the existing uniform.

Students may wish to wear the new uniform earlier, if they so wish.
